The Children & Youth Services (CAYS) Foundation invites applications for the position of Facility Maintenance Technician

The CAYS Foundation seeks to hire a Facility Maintenance Technician to provide property and building maintenance services. CAYS provides care and protection to children 12-18, and this role will allow the Foundation to care for children in a safe and homelike environment. Duties will include gardening and landscape maintenance, completion of minor building repairs and property maintenance, transporting young people, oversight of projects being completed by private contractors, and maintenance, licensing and other matters related to the Foundation’s vehicles.

Specifically, the Foundation is looking for candidates with:

• High school degree and the ability to communicate fluently in English (reading/writing/speaking).
• A minimum of 3 years’ work experience in a similar role performing similar duties such as minor repairs, building maintenance and gardening is required.
• Basic electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills as post holder will interact frequently with colleagues, other stakeholders, and private contractors.
• Strong organizational skills to effectively manage the varied duties of the post.
• Ability to think independently and take initiative where/when appropriate. The post holder is expected to interact positively with young people and model appropriate, pro-social behaviours.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality is required.
• Basic computer skills are required. (Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, Excel).
• The post holder must have a clean driving record and hold a valid Driver’s License.
• Clean criminal background check and drug screening, and positive professional references.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:
• Applicants must possess a high school degree, have basic computer skills and be familiar with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and common internet browsers. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a manual transmission.

Salary Range: CI$2,466-CI$2,720 per month.
