About APS:
Algemeen Pensioenfonds Sint Maarten (APS) manages the pension schemes for government employees and affiliated institutions. APS is committed to ensuring a sustainable future for Sint Maarten by investing responsibly and providing a solid pension provision. The APS board comprises of representatives from various stakeholders. We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable board member willing to contribute to reliable pension management for our participants.
Description of the Board Position:
As a board member of APS, you will fulfill an important governance role and be responsible for strategic policy and overseeing the execution of the pension scheme. You will collaborate closely with fellow board members and the executive management to achieve APS’s objectives.
This is a board position requiring an average commitment of two to three days per month.
It does not constitute an employment relationship; however, monthly compensation is provided for this role. The position is formally appointed by the Minister of Finance. The selection process includes an A-screening by the National Security Service of Sint Maarten (VDSM) as well as an assessment of expertise by the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS).
Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing strategic policies.
- Monitoring the financial health and investment portfolio of the fund.
- Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
- Representing the interests of participants and pensioners.
- Evaluating and approving policy proposals and annual plans.
Profile:
- Academic level of work and thinking, preferably in a relevant field such as finance, economics, or law.
- At least 5 years of experience in a governance or supervisory role
- Knowledge of and experience with pension funds and/or financial institutions.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Integrity, independence, and a proactive attitude.
- Compliance with the expertise requirements set by the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS).
- Willingness to undergo an A-screening as part of the selection process.
