The successful candidate will be required to provide tax and legal advisory support to a wide range of local and international clients across various industries, including multinational corporations:

Duties & Responsibilities
- Liaise with Bahamian regulators including inter alia the Ministry of Finance and the Department of Inland Revenue to facilitate clients obtaining the requisite approval to operate a business in or from within The Bahamas.
- Analyze Bahamas legislation to provide tax advice to clients to ensure compliance
- Prepare and file tax returns with the relevant tax authority as well as manage tax audits (as applicable), inquiries, notices and other compliance related matters pertaining to clients.
- Provide advisory support to clients on matters pertaining to, amongst others, corporate restructuring, cross-border transactions, economic substance, re-domiciliation, and company liquidation.
- Maintain documentation and records related to tax filings, notices and other tax-related activities ]
- Co-manage the day-to-day operations of the tax department and supervise junior employees working on the client portfolio.
- Foster a culture of tax and corporate compliance and awareness throughout the firm, providing training and support as needed.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Proven work experience in the tax, corporate and commercial space at a manager, supervisory level.
- Sound knowledge of tax related legislation including the amended Value Added Tax Act, Regulations and Rules, Stamp Act, 2024, Business Licence Act, Companies Act, Ch. 308, and International Business Companies Act, Ch. 309, with the ability to interpret and apply accurately to client matters.
- Knowledge of corporate secretarial, advisory and governance practice and procedure.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Staying updated with changes in tax laws and regulations in The Bahamas and proactively identifying potential risks or opportunities for clients.
- Proficiency in accounting would be an asset.
- Knowledge in filing VAT Returns and Business Licence Returns with the tax authority.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Strong leadership, coaching and client-centric skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders locally, regionally and internationally.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Education & Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in tax management, corporate and commercial law or a related area, preferably in a corporate, financial services or public accounting environment.
- Attorney-at-law in good standing with The Bahamas Bar Association or regional Bar Association with the above experience would strengthen the application.
- Notary Public qualifications would be an asset.
